Service: LinkedIn lead generation using Sales Navigator, profile positioning and content.
Result: $18,000 in live proposals generated from LinkedIn activity.
The starting point
A B2B service business was active on LinkedIn and getting nothing from it. Connections were growing, posts were going out, and no deals were coming back. The problem was not effort. It was that the profile read like a CV, the content spoke to peers rather than buyers, and outreach was going to whoever LinkedIn happened to suggest.
What we changed
1. The profile became a landing page
Headline, about section and featured work were rewritten around the client’s buyer and the problem that buyer wakes up with. Anyone arriving from an outreach message could tell within five seconds what was on offer and who it was for.
2. Targeting moved to Sales Navigator
Instead of broad connecting, we built saved searches around job title, seniority, company size, industry and recent activity, then worked those lists deliberately. Every person contacted matched a defined buyer profile rather than an algorithmic suggestion.
3. Outreach became a conversation, not a pitch
Connection requests carried no pitch at all. The follow-up referenced something specific about the prospect’s business. The pitch came only after a reply, and only when there was a reason for it. Non-responders got a light second and third touch, spaced out, then were left alone.
4. Content did the warming
Posts were written for the buyer — the objections they raise, the mistakes they make, the results they want — so prospects arriving on the profile found evidence of expertise waiting for them. Outreach into a warm audience converts at a completely different rate to outreach into a cold one.
Results
- $18,000 in proposals generated from LinkedIn outreach
- Booked calls with decision-makers who matched the target profile
- A repeatable process: defined audience, personalised outreach, warm content, structured follow-up
Why most LinkedIn outreach fails
Three reasons, in order of frequency: the pitch arrives in the connection request, the audience is defined by convenience rather than fit, and the profile the prospect lands on does not confirm that the sender can help. Fix those three and LinkedIn stops being a broadcast channel and starts being a pipeline.
